{"id":549,"date":"2023-01-08T17:10:43","date_gmt":"2023-01-08T17:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jadro-izletiste.hr\/suplja-crkva\/"},"modified":"2023-01-18T15:06:37","modified_gmt":"2023-01-18T15:06:37","slug":"suplja-crkva","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jadro-izletiste.hr\/en\/cultural-heirtage\/suplja-crkva\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hollow Church"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Along the <strong>Jadro<\/strong> River, east of Salona, there are the remains of churches in a locality that has been commonly known for many centuries under the very curious name of the <strong>Hollow Church<\/strong>. The remains of the three-nave basilica dedicated to St. Peter and Moses were standing there at the end of the 17<sup>th<\/sup> and the beginning of the 18<sup>th<\/sup> century, and at that time the newly settled inhabitants of Solin gave it that picturesque name. The church from the 11<sup>th<\/sup> century, connected with the coronation of prince Zvonimir as the Croatian king in 1075, was built inside a large early Christian Basilica, probably from the 6<sup>th<\/sup> century. Next to the church was a Benedictine monastery, connected, perhaps, to the ruling house. This is probably the reason that the new church was built right in the old one and that this important act was performed there.
