In 119 BC the Delmataes welcomed the army of the Roman proconsul Lucius Caecilius Metellus into their city in a friendly manner, so it is believed that the Italics also lived in Salona at that time, along with the Delmataes and Greek settlers. In 76 BC the Roman Gaius Cosconius conquered the city and from then on, the rise of Salona to the greatest glory, greatness and splendour begun.
